What product tax categories does TaxJar support?

Product Tax Categories are used to determine if a given type of product is taxable in a state. 

  • You can find the selection of Product Tax Categories supported by TaxJar in our API documentation. If you do not see a Product Tax Category you need on our list, reach out to support@taxjar.com and let us know! We will add your request to our request list!
  • If you are unsure which Product Tax Category you should apply to your products, we recommend reaching out to a tax professional for guidance. 

TaxJar users* who sell on these supported platforms, or who use the TaxJar API (or a combination of supported carts and our API) may be able to classify exempt sales via the Exemptions tab to make sure TaxJar's Expected Report will view those sales as exempt.
