To enroll in AutoFile for New Jersey, you'll need the details listed below:
Additionally, to complete the enrollment, you'll need to grant TaxJar access as a Delegate User by following these steps:
- Login to your account on the New Jersey Tax Portal website, then click the icon for 'Tax Portal- Admin'.
- From the top navigation menu, select 'Profile Information', then click ‘Manage Delegate Users’.
- Click 'Add New Delegate'
- Enter the following details:
- Email address: filing@taxjar.com
- Taxpayer User Registration Confirmation Number: TU01000104587
- Click 'Next'
- Note: Our TaxJar account will show the name, “Carrie Almany”. Carrie is a Stripe team member and our point of contact for the account with the state.
- Enter the following details:
- Grant Access to TaxJar on the 'User Details' page:
- Under the 'Taxpayer Authorizations' section, check the box next to your business name. Set the 'Start Date' as the first day of the current year; leave the 'End Date' blank.
- Click 'Tax Type Authorizations'
- Check the box for 'Sales and Use' (set 'Start Date' to first day of the current year; leave 'End Date' blank)
- Click 'Tax Type Functions'
- Check the boxes for the following functions:
- File Returns
- Make Payments
- View Tax Type Specific Correspondence
- Click 'Ok'
- Check the boxes for the following functions:
- Click ‘Ok’ again in the bottom right corner
- Click ‘Ok’ on the popup, ‘Please select Save on the User Detail page in order to submit the changes.'
- Click ‘Save’ in the bottom right corner.
- Once redirected to the 'Manage Delegate Users' page, you should now see 'TPS UNLIMITED INC.' listed as a delegate user.

What's my State Registered Business Name?
- This is the business name you provided to the state when you registered for your sales tax license.
- It should be listed on your sales tax registration paperwork, as well as in your New Jersey Department of Taxation account.
What's my NJ State Taxpayer ID?
- This is the 12-digit state certificate number you received from the state when you registered for your sales tax license.
What's my NJ State PIN?
- This is the 4-digit PIN, or 6-character alphanumeric combination, that is assigned to you by the state once you have registered for a sales tax permit.
- The Taxpayer ID number and PIN you provide for AutoFile should be associated with your New Jersey Sales and Use Tax account number. These details should not be associated with other types of tax accounts with the state of New Jersey.

This is the filing frequency assigned to you by the New Jersey Division of Taxation.
