June 2018: Ohio AutoFile Updates
June 15, 2018 - Update for Ohio AutoFile enrollment:
In preparation for the Ohio DOR's Business Gateway Modernization Project, we have made changes to AutoFile enrollment for Ohio.
- With the coming changes, TaxJar will now need Service Provider access to your Business Gateway account.
- If you're currently enrolled in AutoFile, you won't need to do anything from your end. TaxJar will request this access for your account. Once that happens, you'll receive an email notification (see below) from the state to let you know that TPS Unlimited Inc (TaxJar is a trademark of TPS Unlimited Inc) has been given access to your Business Gateway account.
- If you enroll in AutoFile for Ohio after June 14, 2018, TaxJar will request this access for your account after you complete the AutoFile enrollment form.
Below is the text of the letter you'll receive from the state after TaxJar (TPS Unlimited Inc) requests Service Provider access:
Thank you for using the Ohio Business Gateway! We have an update related to your account.
This message is to confirm that your organization, [your company name will be here], has provided access to Service Provider, TPS Unlimited Inc, for the following Service Areas:
Ohio Taxation - Sales and Use Tax : Service Area All Access
Next time you log-in, you will be able to see see this Service Provider listed under the Group (Shared Access) Administration section of your Administration page.
There is only one thing left to do before your Service Provider can begin filing on your behalf:
- Your Service Provider must assign at least one user from their organization to the Group representing your organization in their Gateway account. This user will automatically receive access to the Service Area(s) already selected by you.
That's it - your Service Provider is now ready to begin filing on your behalf!
